2010 has started with a blast for dutchsoftware.com, with a host of new customers signing up in January and new integrations of elvis with industry-leading software platforms.
With the likes of Otto Brandt and Kiilto oy in Finland, Nederlands Dagblad and de Pers in the Netherlands and Fvw Mediengruppe in Germany signing up as customers in January, decision makers were quick on their feet to recognize what elvis has to offer for them. The new elvis customers are a nice mix between media, creative and corporate industries and fit nicely in the target markets for elvis.
Also in January, the elvis integrations with Enfocus Switch 9 and Woodwing’s Content Station 7 were realized. Switch 9 will include elvis configurators to set up automated workflows for color correction, normalization and image enhancement processes. In WoodWing Content Station 7, users can perform searches for videos, images, XML and other media files in elvis from within Content Station interface.
Stay tuned for more, coming soon..

We are very excited to hear that Adobe has released a beta of the new Text Layout Framework, another great open source project. We have been waiting for library like this that offers advanced, easy-to-integrate typographic and text layout features and typography for the Flash Framework. Combine it with the new text engine in AIR 1.5 and we can do a lot more with rich text editing and previews.
Adobe lists the following features:
- Bidirectional text, vertical text and over 30 writing systems including Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Lao, the major writing systems of India, and others
- Selection, editing and flowing text across multiple columns and linked containers, and around inline images
- Vertical text, Tate-Chu-Yoko (horizontal within vertical text) and justifier for East Asian typography
- Rich typographical controls, including kerning, ligatures, typographic case, digit case, digit width and discretionary hyphens
- Cut, copy, paste, undo and standard keyboard and mouse gestures for editing
- Rich developer APIs to manipulate text content, layout, markup and create custom text components.
Adobe has certainly been very busy making us developers very happy!
